Archie's Picks: Murray-Lopez

What would Wimbledon be without Andy Murray in the semis? Archie doesn't want to know.

===
As I mentioned previously, Archie is a rescue dog, so he likes underdogs. He is seriously considering picking Andy Murray to win Wimbledon this year, but he still needs to see how the Scot fares against the hard-serving Spaniard. Needless to say, Archie will be paying close attention to Murray tomorrow. If he sees jaw clenching or tantrums directed at Judy, Archie will be quick to abandon Murray for another year.

Without any further ado, here is Archie's pick for the Murray-Lopez Wimbledon quarterfinal.

Archie's Pick: Murray
Why: Because Muzz is the ultimate underdog, and he has cute teeth (like me).

My Pick: Murray
Why: Lopez is serving like a maniac this fortnight but he'll be facing a very clever returner that will make sure he puts a lot of balls back on Lopez' side of the court in order to give the Spaniard's less than perfect ground strokes a chance to break down. The Scot has yet to lose in 4 previous meetings with "Deliciano," and unless he really is bent out of shape by the fact that his mother/coach thinks Feliciano is a sexy beast (who doesn't?), Murray should find a way to crack Lopez at his core before all is said and done.

Still, Lopez, at 29, is playing the best Wimbledon of his career. He leads the tournament in aces, and he's got a world-class grass game that gives him a serious chance for the upset in this one. Add to that the fact that he's got nothing to lose and you definitely have a good recipe for a drama-filled match that could break the hearts of the London faithful.

This could be the most exciting of all four quarterfinals, as the intensity and passion of the Centre Court crowd will add an element of magic to an already sure to be magical matchup.
